Tiger's transgressions could cost $12billion

A recent study has revealed the cost of Tiger Woods’ ‘transgressions’ to the economy could amount to as much as $12billion.

Despite being rumoured to have become the first sportsman to become a billionaire from sponsorship deals and endorsements, Woods’ backers have gradually backed away since details of his scandalous private life have come to the fore. AT&T are the latest company to desert the star, joining Gillette, Accenture, Tag Heuer and Gatorade in downgrading or ending sponsorship agreements with the world No.1.

Woods, who is taking an ‘indefinite’ break from golf following allegations of numerous affairs, wore the AT&T logo on his golf bag, and the firm released a short statement about the end of its deal with the star, simply stating: “We are ending our sponsorship agreement with Tiger Woods and wish him well in the future.”

The firm has confirmed, however, that it will continue to sponsor the AT&T National PGA event in July.
